Governance
The Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) serves over 90,000 active, deferred and retired members. The plan is subject to the Employment Pension Plans Act and the Canada Income Tax Act.
Governance refers to the framework and processes in place for the management of the pension plan. The Joint Governance of Public Sector Pension Plans Act establishes a joint governance framework for PSPP. Under joint governance, employee and employer sponsor organizations share control of Plan design and funding. PSPP, with oversight by a Board of Directors, is the trustee and administrator of the Plan and is responsible for management of the Plan.
In this section, you will learn about the roles and responsibilities of each group under the joint governance framework and the processes in place to ensure the security and longevity of PSPP.
